Selbstlaut is a young MC from Linz, the steel city on the Danube. After having gone to a
concert at the age of 12 he began to write his own rhymes and has been doing so for the
past years. Together with Mirac the crew Schweigeverbot was founded and the two MCs began
making music together, it was also Mirac who introduced Selbstlaut to making beats,
another occupation that has been using up a lot of Selbstlaut's time. Soon after the
foundation of Schweigeverbot Selbstlaut began taking part in Poetry Slams, something that
has taken him to far off places like Zurich and Düsseldorf, but usually only to the local
Post Skriptum Slam in Linz. Sadly Schweigeverbot broke up in 2005, but that only
encouraged Selbstlaut to make music on his own. In 2009 he released his début album
/Social Coma./
Social Coma is kept entirely in English, except for the 3 feature parts by Def Ill, Fozhowi and Mirac and was greatly inspired by world politics, or the problems with it. The hard facts are easily summed up in a sentence, it consists of 15 tracks, it was produced almost entirely by Selbstlaut, the 4 exceptions being one beat by Feux, one beat by Kalifornia Kurt, one beat by Mirac and one beat by Def Ill. In effect the album is the product of an MC from Linz listening to a lot of Immortal Technique and dead prez and reading about the EZLN in Chiapas and the WUO.
